From Rock Bottom to Building Dreams: The Honey and Biscuit Story
The Dog Who Got Me Through
I did not have the easiest start in life. My mum died when I was three, and my dad did not bring me up, so I entered the care system. Over the years, I experienced fifteen foster placements, four children's homes and two boarding schools. It was a childhood filled with uncertainty and experiences that no child should have to face.
But throughout every move, every change and every goodbye, there was one constant in my life: Penny. She was a black Labrador crossed with a Collie, and she became one of the most important parts of my life. She was my comfort when everything else felt uncertain. She stayed by my side for eighteen years, right into my adult life, and gave me the companionship and security I needed during some of my most difficult moments.
Penny taught me something that I still believe today. Sometimes, a dog can be the one thing that gets you through.
Starting Again
Years later, I would need that lesson again. After a painful separation, I lost the gym business I had put my heart and soul into. Before long, I had lost almost everything and found myself homeless with my three children and my dog. It was the lowest point of my life. But once again, my children and my dog gave me a reason to keep going.
Slowly, bit by bit, we rebuilt our lives. I eventually met Jade, who helped me get back on my feet, and together we welcomed two Cockapoos into our family: Honey and Biscuit. They brought happiness, chaos and plenty of personality back into our home.
How Honey & Biscuit Boutique Began
Jade was forever buying them accessories to match their bold, playful little characters. One day, half joking, I said, "I should start a business selling dog accessories." She looked at me and said, "That would be great." And that was it. Something clicked.
Starting over was not easy. No savings, no money behind me, just a determination to build something real and to show my kids that you can fall hard and still get back up. Honey and Biscuit Boutique was born from that determination.
What Makes Us Different
Our accessories are bold, bright, playful and full of personality. There is no boring beige and no blending into the background. We create distinctive dog accessories that celebrate every dog's individual character while still prioritising comfort, quality and practicality.
Every collection is designed with care and created by someone who understands exactly what a dog can mean to a person. Dogs are never "just pets." They are companions, family members and, during the hardest moments, they can be the reason we keep going.
Proud Moments Along the Way
Since launching Honey & Biscuit Boutique, we have been fortunate enough to achieve things I once could only have imagined. We won a design competition that gave us a seven day pop up inside John Lewis Nottingham, and we were also recognised with Theo Paphitis' Small Business Sunday, known as the #SBS Award. These moments have made me incredibly proud, but they are only part of our story.
The Next Chapter
My dream is to see Honey & Biscuit Boutique stocked in shops throughout the UK and, one day, beyond it. I also want to show my children, and anyone who has ever felt knocked down by life, that determination, resilience and a little bit of heart can build something special.
Honey & Biscuit Boutique represents more than dog accessories. It is a reminder that no matter how difficult life becomes, you can rebuild, begin again and create something positive from the experiences that shaped you.
Because that is what dogs do. They stay beside us. They help us heal. And sometimes, their little paws are exactly what gets us through.
Welcome to Honey & Biscuit Boutique.
